The Los Angeles Chargers and the Chicago Bears will both be trying to pick up a win on Sunday Afternoon when they battle at Soldier Field.

ABOUT THE CHARGERS (2-5): Wide receiver Keenan Allen (44 catches, 564 yards, three touchdowns) is dealing with a hamstring injury, so it won’t be a surprise to see do-it-all running back Austin Ekeler splitting out wide more often. Ekeler leads the team with 248 rushing yards and 49 receptions, and the offense was more efficient when he was the primary back before Melvin Gordon returned from his holdout to gain just 81 yards on 36 carries (2.3 average) during the team’s three-game skid. Melvin Ingram (hamstring) is expected to return after missing the last three games while fellow defensive end Joey Bosa is enjoying a strong campaign with five sacks.

ABOUT THE BEARS (3-3):
Trubisky has thrown only two interceptions while compiling 839 yards and five touchdowns as he is coming off a season-best 251-yard performance in last week’s loss to New Orleans. The Bears also have a sagging running attack that ranks 28th (70 yards per game), with lead back David Montgomery (231 yards) averaging a meager 3.3 yards per carry. The defense allowed an average of 160 yards on the ground in the back-to-back losses, but Khalil Mack (4.5 sacks) is enjoying a solid campaign.

Oddsmakers opened the Bears as 4-point favorites versus the Chargers, while the game’s total opened at 41.

The Los Angeles Chargers are watching their season slide away and look to halt a three-game losing streak when they visit the Chicago Bears on Sunday. They won’t find any sympathy from the Bears, who have dropped back-to-back contests and also feel they are in a must-win situation.

Chicago quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is receiving heat for offensive issues that have led to the club being ranked 30th in the NFL in total offense (263.7 yards per game) and 26th in scoring (18.7 points). “Another opportunity to get back on track,” Trubisky told reporters regarding the situation. “Hasn’t been going the way we wanted it to, but that happens sometimes. We’ve got a great opportunity this week, and I think the guys in the locker room, we’ve got a great attitude.” The Bears have allowed an average of 30 points during their consecutive losses, so perhaps that helps Los Angeles’ offense, which is averaging just 16.7 points during the skid. Philip Rivers has topped 300 yards in each of the last two games and five times overall this season as he already is more than halfway toward notching his 11th career 4,000-yard season.
