Divisional bragging rights will be on the line on Monday when the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins meet at PPG Paints Arena.

ABOUT THE FLYERS (8-9-6): Philadelphia could get some help on the blue line Monday as Andrew MacDonald appears ready to return from a lower-body injury. “I feel really good,” the 31-year-old defenseman, who has not played since Oct. 21, told the team’s website on Sunday. “I think at this point, it’s up to the people above me to make those decisions. … It feels good and I’m ready to move forward.” Sean Couturier is on pace to shatter his career high of 39 points as he has registered 25 in 23 games and landed on the scoresheet in four of his last five contests.

ABOUT THE PENGUINS (12-10-3): Captain Sidney Crosby, the reigning Maurice Richard Trophy winner, also scored two goals and added an assist versus the Lightning for his second straight multi-point performance and third in six contests. Both of the 30-year-old’s tallies came on the power play, putting him first on the team with six and one off the league lead. Kessel has registered an NHL-high 17 points with the man advantage, but only three have been goals.

Oddsmakers opened the Penguins as -144 moneyline favorites versus the Flyers, while the game’s total opened at 6.

The Pittsburgh Penguins ended a losing streak in their previous contest and the Philadelphia Flyers look to do the same when they visit their Metropolitan Division rivals on Monday. Pittsburgh is coming off a 5-2 triumph over Tampa Bay on Saturday that halted its three-game slide and improved it to 7-2-1 at home.

Phil Kessel scored two goals and set up two others in the victory, giving him seven points in his last three contests and a team-leading 31 on the season. Philadelphia is in the midst of a skid that reached seven games (0-3-4) with Friday’s 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Islanders. The Flyers haven’t won since topping Chicago 3-1 on Nov. 9 and are 0-1-2 on the road since blanking St. Louis 2-0 a week earlier. Jakub Voracek leads Philadelphia with 29 points and is riding a five-game streak during which he has collected three goals and five assists.

Pittsburgh was a 5-2 winner in its last match at home against the Lightning. They won as favorites, while the total score of 7 made winners of OVER bettors.

The Flyers were a 5-4 loser in their most recent outing at home against the Islanders. That made winners of bettors who got New York at +111 on the moneyline, while the total score (9) was good news for OVER bettors.
