The Milwaukee Brewers and the Colorado Rockies will both be gunning for a victory on Saturday when they meet at Coors Field.

After recording a victory in his major-league debut on Aug. 4 at Tampa Bay, Woodruff allowed two runs and three hits over 5 2/3 innings in Wednesday’s 4-0 loss to Minnesota. An 11th-round pick in 2014 out of Mississippi State, Woodruff earned the call to the majors after going 6-5 with a 4.46 ERA in 15 starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs this season. The 24-year-old originally was scheduled to make his first major-league appearance on June 13 but landed on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.

Bettis returned on Monday and tossed seven scoreless innings against Atlanta in his first start of the season after battling testicular cancer. The 28-year-old Texan led the team in starts (32), wins (14) and innings (186) last season and could provide a welcome boost to the Rockies’ rotation over the next six weeks. Ryan Braun is 1-for-10 when facing Bettis, who has gone 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA in three career starts against Milwaukee.

Oddsmakers currently have the Colorado Rockies listed as 158-moneyline favorites versus the Brewers, while the game’s total is sitting at 12½.

Carlos Gonzalez has been unusually quiet at the plate this season, but the Colorado Rockies are hoping his recent surge is a sign of things to come. The resurgent Gonzalez will be in the middle of the lineup again Saturday as the Rockies continue their three-game series against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, who began their nine-game trip on Friday with an 8-4 loss.

Gonzalez belted a two-run homer Friday as the Rockies moved one game ahead of Arizona for the top National League wild-card spot while Milwaukee fell two games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. The 31-year-old Gonzalez is batting .238 with eight homers but has recorded a hit in 21 of his last 25 games, batting .309 with 17 RBIs over that stretch. Milwaukee sits 4 1/2 games back in the wild-card race but received a spark Friday with the return of Stephen Vogt, who delivered a pinch-hit double in his first action since being sidelined on July 18 with a sprained left knee. Orlando Arcia also returned Friday after missing the previous two games with back spasms while Keon Broxton blasted his 20th home run, giving him four in his last three contests.
