The Kentucky Wildcats and the Texas A&M Aggies will both be trying to pick up a win on Saturday when they battle at Reed Arena.

ABOUT KENTUCKY (25-5, 15-2 SEC): Freshman point guard De’Aaron Fox (15.4 points, SEC-best 5.2 assists) scored 13 points Tuesday after missing the Florida game with a knee contusion. Freshman guard Malik Monk leads the SEC in scoring at 21.7 points after scoring 50 of his 60 points over the last two games in the second half. Forward Derek Willis (6.9 points, 4.9 rebounds) proposed to his girlfriend Tuesday while being honored on Senior Night – she said yes – and Willis celebrated with eight rebounds and three blocks versus Vanderbilt.

ABOUT TEXAS A&M (16-13, 8-9): Sophomore center Tyler Davis (team-high 14.1 points, 6.9 rebounds) leads the SEC and is 11th in the nation in field goal percentage at 62.9 while going 19-for-26 from the floor in his last four games. Freshman Robert Williams (11.7 points, club-most 7.9 rebounds) is second in the SEC with 2.6 blocks per game, and recorded at least one in all 29 games he’s played – a school record and longest active streak in the nation. Sophomore guard Admon Gilder (13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists) played all 40 minutes in nine of the last 13 contests.

Oddsmakers currently have the Wildcats listed as 7-point favorites versus the Aggies, while the game’s total is sitting at 148.

Kentucky tries to reverse a discouraging trend when it visits Texas A&M on Saturday, but has time to fix the slow starts that have plagued the No. 9 Wildcats for the past two games. Kentucky tries for its eighth straight victory and to get out of the blocks quicker after erasing a 19-point deficit to defeat Vanderbilt 73-67 on Tuesday for its largest rally under coach John Calipari and trailing No. 12 Florida by 12 before defeating the Gators 76-66 on Feb. 25.

“I think that as you get into the NCAA Tournament and you get down double digits there’s a sense of, ‘Oh my gosh, this might be it,’” Wildcats assistant Joel Justus told reporters. “Whereas right now, you’re able to play and know, ‘Okay, it’s a big game if we win, but if we lose we still move on.’ And you learn from it.” Kentucky, which clinched the No. 1 seed in next week’s SEC tournament, won only one game by more than 10 points during its winning streak, but that wasn’t the case when the Wildcats and Aggies met earlier this season. Kentucky prevailed 100-58 on Jan. 3 – the last of five times it reached the century mark in 2016-17. Texas A&M won at Missouri 60-43 on Tuesday for their second straight victory behind 18 points from junior center Tonny Trocha-Morelos.
