The Kentucky Wildcats and the Missouri Tigers will both be gunning for a victory on Tuesday when they meet at Mizzou Arena.

ABOUT KENTUCKY (22-5, 12-2 SEC): The Wildcats are one of the highest-scoring teams in the nation thanks to the frenetic pace at which they prefer to play. Malik Monk (21.4 points) leads a quartet of double-digit scorers, and fellow freshmen De’Aaron Fox (15.6, 5.4 assists) and Bam Adebayo (12.7 points, 7.1 rebounds) also have put up big numbers. Monk, Fox and sophomore Isaiah Briscoe (13.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists) form a dangerous backcourt trio that allows the Wildcats to push the pace while keeping their turnover count under control.

ABOUT MISSOURI (7-19, 2-12): The Tigers have shown improvement of late with impressive home wins over Arkansas and Vanderbilt and near-misses at Texas A&M and versus Alabama at home. Missouri has been at its best when Jordan Barnett (12.5 points, 6.3 rebounds) and Kevin Puryear (11.5, 6.2) are productive, because the team struggles with its outside shooting. Terrence Phillips (9.9 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds) had the hot hand in Saturday’s loss to Tennessee, scoring 18 points while going 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

Oddsmakers currently have the Wildcats listed as 16-point favorites versus the Tigers, while the game’s total is sitting at 154.

The way Kentucky coach John Calipari talks about Missouri doesn’t seem to fit the Tigers’ record or their place near the bottom of the SEC standings. But Calipari has taken notice of the team’s improved play of late and hopes his 10th-ranked Wildcats can avoid a classic trap game when they visit the Tigers on Tuesday.

The stakes are high for Kentucky, which is tied atop the SEC standings with Florida and will host the Gators for a showdown on Saturday, while Calipari is wary of a Missouri team that seemingly has nothing to lose. “A lot of times we’re playing teams that have house money, and they’re letting it go and making shots and making plays they haven’t all year because it’s house money,” Calipari told reporters. “And so, we’re going into a game, it’s a dangerous game.” The Tigers are coming off a 90-70 drubbing at Tennessee on Saturday, but they were 2-2 in their previous four contests – with each loss coming by just three points. The Wildcats have won four straight following a stretch of three losses in four games and are looking to improve to 10-0 all-time against Missouri.
