The TCU Horned Frogs and the Baylor Bears will both be gunning for a victory on Saturday when they meet at Ferrell Center.
ABOUT TCU (17-7, 6-5 Big 12): The Horned Frogs bring in their first ever three-game win streak in Big 12 play, winning in overtime at Kansas State (86-80) and then following that up with home wins over Texas (78-63) and Texas Tech (62-61). Vladimir Brodziansky, a 6-11 sophomore forward, leads the team in scoring (14.3), is second in the Big 12 in both blocks per game (2.4) and field goal percentage (61.7), and had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the first meeting. Sophomore guard Alex Robinson (11.3 points) and 6-7 junior swingman Kenrich Williams (10.0) also are averaging in double figures, with Williams also grabbing a team-leading 9.4 rebounds per game which ranks second in the Big 12.

ABOUT BAYLOR (21-3, 8-3): Junior forward Johnathan Motley became the 31st player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark in the win at Oklahoma State and is in the conversation for national player of the year honors, leading the team in both scoring (16.6) and rebounding (9.8). The 6-10 Motley had 24 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Cowboys while junior point guard Manu Lecomte, who is second on the team in scoring (12.5), added 15 points, including 3-of-8 3-pointers. Jo Lual-Acuil Jr., a 7-foot junior forward, also is having a big year for the Bears, averaging 9.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and a Big 12 leading 2.71 blocks per game.

Baylor won its last outing, a 72-69 result against Cowboys on February 08. They covered in that game as a +1.5-point underdog.

TCU won its last outing, a 62-61 result against Red Raiders on February 07. They failed to cover in that game as a -3.5-point favorite.

With 17 wins and currently tied for fourth place in the Big 12, TCU is positioning itself for its first NCAA Tournament bid since 1998. The one thing lacking on the Horned Frogs’ resume however is a win over a top-25 opponent, something they’ll try to change Saturday afternoon when they travel to eighth-ranked Baylor.

TCU has dropped 19 consecutive games against ranked opponents dating back to a 70-55 win over No. 21 Oklahoma State on Feb. 14, 2015. First-year coach Jamie Dixon, who took over a squad that finished 12-21 last season under Trent Johnson, admits he is making sure his team remains focused and doesn’t get caught up in March Madness bracket projections, some of which currently have TCU as high an a No. 8 seed. “We’ve talked about addressing success,” Dixon told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It’s always changing. It’s not like you give a set speech or a set phrase for the entire year and stick with it. … You have to adjust. Kids’ confidence levels go up and down. We’ve changed with how the moment is.” Baylor, which snapped a two-game losing streak with a 72-69 win at Oklahoma State on Wednesday, pulled away late for a 62-53 victory over the Horned Frogs in the first meeting on Jan. 21 in Fort Worth.
