The Kansas State Wildcats and the TCU Horned Frogs will both be gunning for a victory on Saturday when they meet at Amon Carter Stadium.

ABOUT KANSAS STATE (7-4, 5-3 Big 12): Alex Barnes burst onto the scene with 129 yards rushing and a school-freshman record four rushing touchdowns at Baylor and followed it with a 103 more yards and another score versus the Jayhawks. The Wildcats don’t ask Jesse Ertz to do much as a passer – his 1,401 yards through the air ranks ninth in the 10-team conference – but the junior ranks eighth in the league with 775 yards rushing – easily the most among league quarterbacks. Junior linebacker Elijah Lee leads the team and ranks third in the Big 12 with 8.2 tackles per game, while senior defensive lineman Jordan Willis paces the conference in sacks (10.5) and ranks second in tackles for loss (15).

ABOUT TCU (6-5, 4-4): Running back Kyle Hicks leads the Horned Frogs in rushing (894) and receptions (40) – one of four players nationally to lead his team in both categories – but has been mostly bottled up in three of his last four games, with his 195-yard, five-touchdown explosion against Baylor serving as the one exception. Ty Summers was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after recording his second straight 14-tackle game last week and ranks second in the conference with 105. Fellow linebacker Travin Howard paces the league with 110 tackles and became the first Horned Frog to record consecutive 100-tackle seasons since Martin Patterson in 2003-04 with 11 stops versus the Longhorns.

bovada-logo-top-book currently has the Horned Frogs listed as 3.5-point favorites versus the XX, while the game’s total is sitting at 52.5.

Despite being stuck in a conference that has become increasingly known for prolific offenses and shootouts, Kansas State and TCU have managed to stay relevant with consistently good defense. The Horned Frogs eye their third straight win in this series Saturday when they host the Wildcats in a battle between the top two defenses in the Big 12.

Three of the four top offenses in the country in terms of yards, and four of the top 27 scoring offenses reside in the Big 12, making TCU’s 18th- and 40th-place rankings – not to mention Kansas State’s 48th- and 97th-place rankings – in those respective categories look rather pedestrian by comparison. The Wildcats, who are two weeks removed from holding Baylor’s fourth-ranked total offense to a season-low 368 yards, counter with the nation’s 10th-best rush defense and the conference’s best total defense while the Horned Frogs rank second in the league in the latter category. TCU became bowl-eligible as it held Texas to a season-low point total in last Friday’s 31-9 road victory, but the Horned Frogs still have work to do if they want to move ahead of Kansas State and finish fourth in the conference. The Wildcats have won four of five and gave legendary coach Bill Snyder his 200th career victory Saturday with a 34-19 triumph over Kansas.

Last time out for TCU, they were a 31-9 winner as they battled Longhorns on the road. TCU covered in the match as a +3-point underdog, while 40 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

In their last action, Kansas State was a 34-19 winner at home against Jayhawks. They failed to cover the -23.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (53) was profitable news for OVER bettors.
