The fans at Carter-Finley Stadium will be treated to a game between the Miami-FL Hurricanes and the NC State Wolfpack when they take their seats on Saturday.

MIAMI (6-4, 3-3 ACC): Despite having to start two reserves on the line against Virginia, the Hurricanes piled up 222 yards on the ground including 125 by team rushing leader leader Mark Walton (885 yards, 5.5 yards per carry, 11 touchdowns). While wide receiver Stacy Coley (47 receptions, 531 yards, eight touchdowns) remains Kaaya’s most frequent target, freshman Ahmmon Richards (34, 732 yards, 21.5 yards per catch) has emerged as his big-play receiver, scoring on a 77-yard play against Virginia. Led by freshman linebacker Shaquille Quarterman, an aggressive defensive line and senior cornerback Corn Elder, the Hurricanes have held eight of their 10 foes below their season scoring average and rank 13th in FBS in scoring defense (19.3) and first in tackles for loss (9.0 per game).

N.C. STATE (5-5, 2-4): The leader of the Wolfpack’s dominating front seven is junior defensive end Bradley Chubb, who has 17.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks and three forced fumbles. Finley (2,463 yards, 62.3 percent, 15 touchdowns) has spread the ball around – six receivers and backs have 20 or more receptions – with tight end/running back Jaylen Samuels having have the most catches (43, 422 yards, four touchdowns), wide receiver Stephen Louis piling up the most yardage (24, 463 yards, 19.3 per reception) and freshman wide receiver Kelvin Harmon coming off a career-best of 101 receiving yards against Syracuse. Senior running back Matthew Dayes, who had a career-high three touchdowns against the Orange, leads the Wolfpack in rushing with 939 yards on 4.8 yards per carry.

bovada-logo-top-book currently has the Hurricanes listed as 3-point favorites versus the Wolfpack, while the game’s total is sitting at 49.5.

North Carolina State looks to become bowl eligible Saturday on Senior Day when it hosts Miami (Fla.), which is coming off one-sided wins against Pittsburgh and Virginia. The Wolfpack ended a four-game losing streak with a 35-20 victory at Syracuse behind a strong defensive performance and a career-high, 340-yard passing day by quarterback Ryan Finley

The teams have in common four-game skids that included frustrating defeats, both losing late to Florida State in painful ways, plus the Hurricanes falling on a late Notre Dame field goal after rallying from a 20-0 deficit and the Wolfpack missing a 33-yard field with two seconds left before losing in overtime to then-No. 3 Clemson. “This is probably the best front seven that we’ll see all season,” Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya told reporters this week. “I was watching their game against Florida State [and] against Clemson, and frankly they probably should have beaten those teams.” The battle between Miami’s offensive line, which has bounced back from being dominated during its losing streak, and N.C. State’s stout defensive front (99.4 yards per game rushing allowed, No. 4 in FBS) could prove decisive. Miami’s running game averaged only 2.5 yards per carry and Kaaya was sacked 18 times during the losing streak, but the past two weeks the Hurricanes have averaged 5.1 yards rushing and Kaaya has thrown six touchdown passes while being sacked just twice.

Last time out for NC State, they were a 35-20 winner as they battled Orange on the road. NC State covered in the match as a -7-point favorite, while 55 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

In their last action, Miami-FL was a 34-14 winner on the road against Cavaliers. They covered the -9.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (48) was profitable news for UNDER bettors.
