The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns and the Georgia Bulldogs will both be trying to pick up a win on Saturday when they battle at Sanford Stadium.

ABOUT LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE (4-5): Jennings, who sparked Louisiana last week by passing for 210 yards and rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown, has completed 62.4 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,652 yards. Running back Elijah McGuire scored his school-record 50th career touchdown last week, and caught six passes for a season-high 66 yards out of the backfield. Linebacker Tre’maine Lightfoot ranks fourth in the Sun Belt and 31st nationally, averaging nine tackles per game.

ABOUT GEORGIA (6-4): Smith earned SEC defensive player of the week honors, spearheading an effort that held Auburn’s high-powered offense to just 164 yards – the third time in the past four games the Bulldogs have allowed 231 yards or fewer of total offense. Freshman quarterback Jacob Eason completed 20-of-31 passes and helped kill the clock with two drives of six-plus minutes in the final quarter. The Bulldogs’ running game is improving – Georgia has rushed for 350 yards total the past two games after being held to 96 yards in its previous two contests.

bovada-logo-top-book currently has the Bulldogs listed as 23-point favorites versus the Ragin’ Cajuns, while the game’s total is sitting at 45.

Unfulfilled potential and missed opportunities have littered Georgia’s season, but the Bulldogs enter Saturday’s non-conference home contest against Louisiana-Lafayette on a tremendous high after smothering Auburn in stunning fashion last week. The Bulldogs defense produced the team’s lone touchdown, held the Tigers to zero first downs in the second half and, perhaps most importantly, provided hope for a strong finish to Kirby Smart’s first season as head coach.

“Our kids are getting more and more confident in believing that in a close game, we’re going to win,” Smart told reporters after Saturday’s 13-7 triumph. Defensive back Maurice Smith – who like Smart is in his first year at Georgia after leaving national powerhouse Alabama – returned an interception for a touchdown and the Bulldogs gave up a measly 32 yards in the second half. After a shaky beginning in which Georgia allowed 30.8 points per game through the first five games, its defense has surrendered 17.2 per game in its past five. The Ragin’ Cajuns, featuring LSU graduate transfer Anthony Jennings at quarterback, defeated Georgia Southern 33-26 last week to even their Sun Belt Conference record at 3-3.

Georgia was a 13-7 winner in their most recent outing at home against Tigers. They covered the +10-point spread as underdogs, while the total score (20) made winners of UNDER bettors.

Last time out for Louisiana-Lafayette, they were a 33-26 winner as they battled Eagles on the road. Louisiana-Lafayette covered in the match as a +7-point underdog, while 59 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors.
