New Mexico got a 171-yard performance from Tyrone Owens as a key part of its 59-17 victory over the Warhawks on Saturday at University Stadium.

New Mexico won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -15.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 59.0.

Tyrone Owens rushed for 171 yards, while Teriyon Gipson added 84 yards in the win. Patrick Reed and Q’ Drennan added 45 and 39 receiving yards respectively.

Will Collins rushed for 35 yards for Louisiana-Monroe, while Thomas Koufie added 28 yards. Caleb Evans threw for 120 yards for the Warhawks, while receivers Brian Williams and Xavier Brown had 33 and 32 yards respectively.

Louisiana-Monroe lost the offensive yardage battle to New Mexico 622-235 yards in Saturday’s game. New Mexico had more first downs as that total ended up 23-12.

The time of possession battle favored New Mexico as their offense was on the field for 32:30, longer than the 27:30 of their opponents.

New Mexico looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Hawaii. Louisiana-Monroe will aim to get back on the winning track at Arkansas State.
