The Thundering Herd had no answer for Kalif Phillips on Saturday as the 49ers rolled to a 27-24 win at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Charlotte was an underdog by +8.5 points and came through with an ATS victory for bettors. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 60.0.

Kalif Phillips rushed for 123 yards, while Hasaan Klugh added 41 yards in the win. Austin Duke and Workpeh Kofa added 76 and 43 receiving yards respectively.

Keion Davis rushed for 90 yards for Marshall, while Hyleck Foster added 8 yards. Chase Litton threw for 262 yards for the Thundering Herd, while receivers Josh Knight and Deon-Tay McManus had 94 and 72 yards respectively.

Marshall lost the offensive yardage battle to Charlotte 387-350 yards in Saturday’s game. Charlotte had more first downs as that total ended up 24-22.

Marshall lost the time of possession battle 32:30-27:30, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Charlotte looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Southern Miss. Marshall will aim to get back on the winning track at Southern Miss.
