Devon Spalding tore up the turf for 157 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Chippewas to a 24-21 win over the Cardinals at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Central Michigan won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -12.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 57.0.

Devon Spalding rushed for 157 yards, while Jahray Hayes added 4 yards in the win. Corey Willis and Mark Chapman added 105 and 63 receiving yards respectively.

James Gilbert rushed for 141 yards for Ball State, while Riley Neal added 13 yards. Riley Neal threw for 174 yards for the Cardinals, while receivers KeVonn Mabon and Aaron Hepp had 56 and 54 yards respectively.

Ball State lost the time of possession battle 34:23-24:41, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Central Michigan heads into a Week 7 battle against NIU. Ball State, meanwhile, will have their next action against Buffalo.
