Kamryn Pettway tore up the turf for 169 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Tigers to a 38-14 win over the Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field.

Auburn won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -3.0-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 55.0.

Kamryn Pettway rushed for 169 yards, while Stanton Truitt added 32 yards in the win. Tony Stevens and Kam Martin added 64 and 42 receiving yards respectively.

Nick Fitzgerald rushed for 61 yards for Mississippi State, while Brandon Holloway added 17 yards. Nick Fitzgerald threw for 181 yards for the Bulldogs, while receivers Keith Mixon and Malik Dear had 55 and 32 yards respectively.

Mississippi State was outgained by Auburn 432-289 yards in Saturday’s match, while the important battle of first downs was won 22-16 by the Tigers.

Auburn led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:22-26:38 split in that important category.

Auburn looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Arkansas. Mississippi State will aim to get back on the winning track at BYU.

Sophomore running back Kamryn Pettway had a career performance, leading surging Auburn to a 38-14 SEC road win over Mississippi State on Saturday.

Pettway finished with a career-high 169 yards rushing and three touchdowns for the Tigers (4-2, 2-1 SEC), who have bounced back from a home loss to Texas A&M with three straight wins and now head into an off week.

Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson had a forced fumble on a sack late in the second quarter. Montravius Adams returned the fumble 13 yards for a touchdown to put the Tigers in complete command, leading 35-0 at halftime.

Pettway had 125 yards and three touchdowns in the first half.

The Bulldogs (2-3, 1-2) were limited to 91 total yards in the first half and committed two turnovers.

Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald threw two touchdown passes in the second half, including an 8-yard hook-up with Fred Ross that trimmed the Auburn lead to 35-14 early in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers answered with a 14-play drive that took more than eight minutes off the clock and ended with a 25-yard Daniel Carlson field.

Auburn quarterback Sean White completed 14 of 18 passes for 204 yards and touchdown to wide receiver Ryan Davis.

Fitzgerald finished 17 of 34 for 181 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception.
