Jamaal Williams scampered through the Toledo defense for 286 yards as BYU handed the Rockets a 55-53 defeat on Friday at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -3.0-point spread. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 51.0.

Jamaal Williams rushed for 286 yards, while Squally Canada added 49 yards in the win. Jonah Trinnaman and Tanner Balderree added 75 and 62 receiving yards respectively.

Kareem Hunt rushed for 146 yards for Toledo, while Terry Swanson added 45 yards. Logan Woodside threw for 505 yards for the Rockets, while receivers Jon’Vea Johnson and Cody Thompson had 182 and 161 yards respectively.

Toledo outgained BYU 692-586 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 33-26 by the Rockets.

The time of possession battle favored Toledo as their offense was on the field for 31:17, longer than the 28:43 of their opponents.

BYU heads into a Week 6 battle against Michigan State. Toledo, meanwhile, will have their next action against Eastern Michigan.
