Vegas Coverage Handicapping tips: Minnesota Golden Gophers the home team will beat the Spread -4.5, VC picks Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Minnesota got a 174-yard performance from Shannon Brooks as a key part of its 32-23 victory over the Fighting Illini on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Golden Gophers were a -4.5-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 47.0.

Shannon Brooks rushed for 174 yards, while Mitch Leidner added 64 yards in the win. KJ Maye and Drew Wolitarsky added 31 and 26 receiving yards respectively.

Josh Ferguson rushed for 105 yards for Illinois, while Kendrick Foster added 56 yards. Wes Lunt threw for 279 yards for the Fighting Illini, while receivers Malik Turner and Geronimo Allison had 126 and 46 yards respectively.

Minnesota lost the offensive yardage battle to Illinois 433-343 yards in Saturday’s game. Illinois had more first downs as that total ended up 28-16.

The time of possession battle favored Illinois as their offense was on the field for 35:40, longer than the 24:20 of their opponents.

Minnesota looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Wisconsin. Illinois will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Northwestern.
