The Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that the team is not thinking about trading wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.

The Ravens (1-5) are dealing with the worst start in the team’s history, this might have started some rumors about the team picking from a contender in replacement of a retiring player at the end of the season.

But this rumor was discarded, after Harbaugh made it clear the Ravens won’t be making that deal. “There’s no chance of that,” he said. “I wouldn’t part with him.”

Besides this, Smith isn’t thinking about leaving the team, the player said he would quit if he was traded.

Nov. 3 is the league’s trade deadline.

Two months ago, 36 year old Smith made the announced he was retiring at the end of the season. The player has been Baltimore’s only consistent receiver during the season, he leads the team with 36 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns. If you do the math, that’s 13 more catches and 245 more receiving yards than anyone else on the Ravens.

Harbaugh said “We got a game Monday night and he’s got to be here Monday night. I promise you that and for every game after that.”
