After being down 3-1, the Blue Jays were forced to win Game 5, and Marco Estrada was able to help his team achieve this.

Toronto Blue Jays 7-1 victory against the Kansas City Royals in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series gave the team one more chance to fight for the World Series. Estrada’s appearance was essential in Game 3 of the division series, and this time also for Game 5. Estrada was responsible for the lowest batting average in the American League during the regular season, and he was harder on Kansas City.

While, Toronto pitchers had permitted 15 hits in each of the previous two games, and a combined 22 runs, Estrada kept the Royals scoreless for 7 2/3 innings. The player gave up a single to Alcides Escobar during the fourth inning, Salvador Perez hit a home run, and Alex Gordon singled with two out in the eighth inning. He left the field to a loud and well-deserved ovation.

The Blue Jays didn’t have the best start either, during the first six innings they only had four hits, however two of those were big. Estrada got a 1-0 lead in the second with a solo homer by Chris Colabello, and Troy Tulowitzki performed another big postseason hit with a three-run double in the sixth inning.
