The Tennessee Titans will measure QB Marcus Mariota’s progress Tuesday to see how extent he can practice on Wednesday, after the player suffered a sprained left MCL.

On Monday Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said the player was able to move around well, but meanwhile he is dividing reps with backup Zach Mettenberger. At the moment Whisenhunt was not aware of the sprain grade.

On Sunday at Nissan Stadium Mariota injured his knee when he was hit by Miami’s Olivier Vernon in the Miami Dolphins’ 38-10 win.

“[Mariota] is walking around the facility here just fine,” according to Whisenhunt. “As the week progresses, we’ll see how it goes and see if he has a chance to play.”

The Titans (1-4) will receive the Falcons (5-1) on Sunday.

Mariota wore a left knee brace after he was injured in the second quarter, but he did not miss a play until he was pulled out. According to the player, he didn’t consider Vernon’s hit as malicious, and the player apologized to him.

Whisenhunt said that “it was low and it was late.”
