Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll informed Monday that the team made the decision to lift Derrick Coleman’s suspension and the fullback will be allowed to join the team.

Coleman was arrested and charged last week with vehicular assault and hit-and-run. His initial suspension was indefinite.

Carroll was asked if he contacted Coleman and received an explanation about the incident. “Yes. We did see him,” Carroll informed. “We’ve also seen the videotapes of his meetings with the police, and so we feel like we are doing the right thing right now, obviously.”

According to Carroll, he is not sure when the player will officially be included to the 53-man roster, but there is a possibility he could play against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.

“He has to clear the doctor’s reports and all that stuff,” Carroll informed. “We don’t know. We don’t know that yet. He has not been able to see our doctors because he’s been on suspension. He’s seen other doctors.”

Coleman, who has played 20.2 percent of the team’s offensive snaps, said he was “in shock” and didn’t escape or go far from the scene. According to his agent’s statement “it seems Derrick may have fallen asleep while driving home from a Seahawks facility.”

According to witnesses Coleman’s truck was speeding through a 35 mph zone when it rear-ended a Honda Civic, and after he was helped from his vehicle, the player left, said the Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett.

Coleman, who is legally deaf had some appearances in TV commercials and has written a book released this year.
