The back to the future trilogy has many futuristic stuff in it, like the Vistaglide motion control camera system, a holographic shark, and the hoverboards.    One very particular was made in the Back to the Future II movie, released in 1989. In this movie, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) went to 2015 and found out that the Chicago Cubs won the 2015 World Series over a Miami-based team.

But looks like the joke is on them, because the Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, which is Bob Gale (who wrote the screenplay) favorite team. According to Gale “Being a baseball fan, I thought, ‘Okay, let’s come up with one of the most unlikely scenarios we can think of,’”

The Cubs will have to beat the New York Mets, before they can get to the World Series. “Somebody once defined mixed emotions as watching your mother-in-law drive off a cliff in your brand-new Mercedes,” Gale joked. “Was I rooting for the Cardinals? Yes. Was I also rooting for the Cubs? Yeah, maybe a little bit. This is one of those things where whatever happens, I’m a winner.”

According to Anthony Rizzo “They’re smart,” and “‘Back to the Future’ said we’re going to win in 2015. We’re going to be a fun team.”

Pitcher Jake Arrieta said, “I know in ‘Back to the Future’ we win it in 2015, which is kind of crazy, to say the least. We’ll do our best to make sure that happens.”
