Alabama will find themselves in a too-familiar position on Saturday when they depart to College Station. They will play against a team that has been idle the week before.

Some people might call it a conspiracy theory or bad scheduling luck, but since Nick Saban was hired as Alabama’s coach, the Crimson Tide has played against more teams with a rest edge, compared to other teams in the country.

Alabama fans may have noticed that their team has played since the start of 2007, 25 games against teams with at least a five-day rest advantage, not to mention that the Tide didn’t have this.

During this season Alabama played and won against Louisiana-Monroe after it had a bye. For the Crimson Tide fans keeping count, by the end of the season, the team’s total games with a meaningful rest disadvantage since 2007 will go up to 27, tied for the most in the FBS.

Contrary to this, the Tide has only had four games rest edge since 2007, this is the team with the fewest in the SEC. the Tide has an averaging 1.4 fewer days of rest than other teams in the past nine years (nearly a full day less than any other team in the country).

In 2010 Alabama complained about this, and the SEC tried their best to ensure that no team had to face more than three conference opponents coming off a bye in a season.
