The player received an indefinite suspension on Friday, following arrest on rape suspicion. According to the Los Angeles Police Department he was under a nearly year-long investigation. UCLA coach Jim Mora, said in a statement this Friday, “We have been informed of the situation involving Adam Searl, and we take these accusations very seriously,” and, “Adam has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process runs its course. The accuser is a UCLA student, according to Police, she reported the sexual assault on Oct. 19, 2014. Investigators leading the case said, the girl met the suspect at a house party off-campus in Westwood, the player walked her to a nearby residence, and then, when she fell asleep, she woke up and “discover the suspect sexually assaulting her.”

The player was charged with three counts of rape, and his bail was set at $300,000, according to court records. Searl is required to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on Oct. 29. He is the second UCLA football player arrested this season. Ishmael Adams, Junior cornerback was arrested in August after being accused of robbery. Adams wasn’t able to attend the first three games, because of this.

Searl, joined the program in 2013, and is from Irvine, California, but he did not play until last season, when he punted 11 times for a 39.1-yard average. He started this season as a backup, but punted five times, against Arizona State, in the team’s most recent game.
