The Hokies came up short against the Pirates in Week 4 action on Saturday, falling 35-28 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
East Carolina won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +10.0-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 50.0.
Brenden Motley rushed for 85 yards, while Travon McMillian added 30 yards in the win. Isaiah Ford and Cam Phillips added 95 and 78 receiving yards respectively.
James Summers rushed for 169 yards for Virginia Tech, while Blake Kemp added 15 yards. James Summers threw for 110 yards for the Hokies, while receivers Quay Johnson and Isaiah Jones had 55 and 55 yards respectively.
East Carolina lost the offensive yardage battle to Virginia Tech 439-410 yards in Saturday’s game. Virginia Tech had more first downs as that total ended up 20-19.
Virginia Tech led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:10-26:50 split in that important category.
Next game, East Carolina takes its act on the road to face Southern Methodist looking for another win. For Virginia Tech, they head home to face Pittsburgh.
