The battle between the Blue Raiders and 49ers didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Charlotte was handed a 73-14 defeat on Saturday at Floyd Stadium.
Middle Tennessee was a favorite by -18.0 points and came through with an ATS victory for bettors. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 66.0.
Kalif Phillips rushed for 72 yards, while Matt Johnson added 28 yards in the win. Trent Bostick and Corey Nesmith Jr. added 39 and 17 receiving yards respectively.
Jordan Parker rushed for 142 yards for Charlotte, while Desmond Anderson added 102 yards. Brent Stockstill threw for 369 yards for the 49ers, while receivers Terry Pettis and Ed’Marques Batties had 167 and 120 yards respectively.
Charlotte lost the offensive yardage battle to Middle Tennessee 695-219 yards in Saturday’s game. Middle Tennessee had more first downs as that total ended up 25-11.
The time of possession battle favored Middle Tennessee as their offense was on the field for 33:16, longer than the 26:44 of their opponents.
Middle Tennessee looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Illinois. Charlotte will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Florida Atlantic.
