Torrey Pierce scampered through the Louisiana-Lafayette defense for 110 yards as Kentucky handed the Ragin’ Cajuns a 40-33 defeat on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.
Kentucky won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -16.5-point spread. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 58.0.
Torrey Pierce rushed for 110 yards, while Elijah McGuire added 86 yards in the win. Gabe Fuselier and Jamal Robinson added 69 and 61 receiving yards respectively.
Stanley Boom Williams rushed for 135 yards for Louisiana-Lafayette, while Jojo Kemp added 34 yards. Patrick Towles threw for 257 yards for the Ragin’ Cajuns, while receivers Garrett Johnson and Dorian Baker had 85 and 50 yards respectively.
Kentucky lost the offensive yardage battle to Louisiana-Lafayette 479-435 yards in Saturday’s game. Louisiana-Lafayette had more first downs as that total ended up 28-18.
Kentucky lost the time of possession battle 37:05-22:55, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Kentucky looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against South Carolina. Louisiana-Lafayette will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Northwestern State.
