The Broncos grabbed a Week 1 victory over the Huskies on Friday, winning 16-13 at Albertsons Stadium.
Boise State did not, however, defeat the Huskies against the spread, which closed at -12.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 53.0.
Dwayne Washington rushed for 14 yards, while Chico McClatcher added 6 yards in the win. Dwayne Washington and Braden Lenius added 53 and 37 receiving yards respectively.
Jeremy McNichols rushed for 89 yards for Washington, while Kelsey Young added 48 yards. Ryan Finley threw for 129 yards for the Huskies, while receivers Holden Huff and Thomas Sperbeck had 28 and 28 yards respectively.
Washington lost the offensive yardage battle to Boise State 337-179 yards in Friday’s game. Boise State had more first downs as that total ended up 21-12.
The time of possession battle favored Boise State as their offense was on the field for 34:22, longer than the 25:38 of their opponents.
Next game, Boise State takes its act on the road to face BYU looking for another win. For Washington, they head home to face Sacramento State.
