Lou Williams and Nick Young seem to be the topic of the week, who’s who and what’s what. Yes, we know that perseverance and performance pays off, we also know that a striking young blond can make you lose focus.

But it seems redundant to ask who will do what, they’re 2 players in a team and although they will always be competition among players, it will always remain a team game, and it’s always been the team effort that makes a franchise win.

Williams as far too much experience to let his ego flair up in court and yes, both can definitely co-exist and support each other on the court as Lou already did in the past with multiple guards and with high volume scorers.

“I’ve played in systems with multiple guards where we had two or three guards on the court at the same time,” said Williams, who will also share scoring duties with Kobe Bryant. “The most important thing is to not pin Nick and I against each other. We’re teammates now. We both have similar games. We both like to score the basketball, that’s been one of our strong suits. That’s what we hang our hats on. But once we’re on the court, I like to play team basketball. If I’m in an iso situation, that when I try to score the ball. Other than that, I just try to make plays whether it’s for myself or my teammates.”

Healthy competition can help the growth of a player or  a team or both, if we look at Williams, he only averaged 2.1 assists in Toronto, with somewhat of a weak defense, but his positive mindset and experience as a bench player can only be an asset for the Lakers, and he also can use a little competition.

As Williams explained:

“Obviously my role has been scoring over the years. But on the defensive end, I do everything I can to help our team, everybody is not going to be able to score the basketball the way I would be able to score. But I’m sure there will be a system in place to help the personnel on the other end. I look forward to any challenge. I never backed down from a challenge. I’ve always tried to stop guys on the defensive end even though it’s not my strong suit. But it’s not one of the worst things on the court for me to be on the floor when it’s time to win a basketball game.”

Williams was recently awarded for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, also recipient of the Naismith Prep Player of the Year in 2006, Mr. Georgia Basketball in 2005 and McDonald’s All-American 2005.

He’s also been and still is a fan of Rap, being featured on Meek Mill ‘s single “ I want it all” he’s also a close friend of Bow Wow. With his annual summer camp back home at his alma-mater, South Gwinnett High School for children, ages of 10–16, he’s feels strongly about giving back to a community that, according to him, as done so much for him.

Ironically, his NBA status saved him from an arm robbery attempt back in Philly, and when the gunman recognized him he just had to tell him, how much of a fan he was. This episode ended with Williams buying him McDonalds.

Canadian rapper, Drake dedicated a song called ‘6 Man’ on his mixtape “If You’re This its Too Late”, to Williams in February 2015, same year that Lou won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.
