Busy summer for Nick Young, who visited beautifully Milan, Italy at fashion week with his wife to be Iggy Azalea, with whom he got engaged on his 30th birthday, but this is not the kind of attention the Lakers are interested in.

In a recent meeting with Mitch Kupchak, Young seems to be confident of the fact that he’s on the Lakers’ roster for the 2015-16 season. But Young’s frisky and erratic performance concerns the Los Angeles Lakers, who meant to trade him during offseason just to realize that other franchise have little to no interest in Young.

With a career low of 13.4 points, 36.6% shooting and 3 years left on his $15.6 million contract, we can speculate on the course of the conversion between Kupchak and Young.

Coach Byron Scott and Young haven’t been on the same page, perhaps due to the disciplinary way of coaching of Scott which doesn’t seem to agree with Nick.

So now with the knee injury, due to to a small fracture, out of the way, Young seem to be on the right track, finally listening to Scott’s advice and privately training near the Valley, he’s improving his technique, his decision making, his off ball defense and playing off the ball.

Kupchak still believes in his small forward/ shooting guard, and still sees him as an important part of the roster, even after signing Lou Williams to a $21 million over 3 years contract, who he wants to position as a reserve shooting guard, so now it’s up to Young to mend his relationship with coach Scott and move forward.

“He has to convince our coaching staff he can play within the system. That doesn’t only mean score the ball. That means defending and doing the little things, which I know he can do. The answer is yes. I do see him being a core player this year” says Kupchak.
