Head football coach of the University of Central Florida, George O’Leary, received the news that defensive back Chris Williams has been shot twice in the arm at around 12:55 am early Saturday morning, at King Tut’s Lounge near campus and was treated at Florida Hospital East. His injuries are reported non-life threatening.

Coach O’Leary, who was out of town at the time of the incident, has been in contact by phone with Williams and his mother Cassandra Floyd. O’Leary is now gathering information on the matter.

“Of the numerous witnesses we spoke to, nobody knows where the gunshots came from. So we cannot say he was specifically targeted,” said public information officer Paul Hopkins.

Chris Williams now 20 years old, also known as Warnel Williams, is a red shirt freshman from St-Marys Georgia who spent most of 2014 on the scout team. He played one game against Tulsa on November 14, 2014 at the House Networks Stadium.
