The Los Angeles Clippers have signed a one year deal with Josh Smith. The Pistons will pay Josh $5.4 million, part of their contract with Josh while the Clippers signed him with the league minimum. So yes, Smith will be receiving paychecks from both sides.

Last season he averaged a 33 percent with the Houston Rockets, but his size gives him the ability to be great at defense, his versatility still makes him shine on the court, he can get points and rebounds thus bringing depth to the Clippers front line. He still showed star qualities in the Western Conference semifinals, while he played in Game 5 thus winning the series with the Rockets, and in Game 6, with Corey Brewer, they scored 29 points.

A dark cloud his still hanging over his head, being remembered more for his Detroit Pistons failure than for his Houston Rockets achievement, if given a chance, Smith can still show his value and he might just have a chance to win a title.

If we take a look at the Clippers bench, we now have, Lance Stephenson, Jamal Crawford, Austin Rivers, Josh Smith and maybe power forward/center Ekpe Udoh, making this team a rather interesting one to follow.

Here is what Josh had to say about leaving the Rockets.

“Over my pro career I have spent a lot of time in Houston with friends and family. Over the past year, while with the Rockets, the team, fans and people of Houston have made it a second home, I want to express my appreciation to everyone for the support and kindness they have showed me and my family while I have been here. Thank you!”
