It was only a matter of time before both parties come to an agreement. Backup point guard Austin Rivers, son of the Los Angeles Clippers president of basketball operations Doc Rivers, is returning to the Clippers with a $6.4 million dollar over a two year period.

Being the 1st and only NBA player to be coached by his father, he was part of a three team deal involving the Phoenix Suns, he was acquired in January by the Los Angeles Clippers from the Boston Celtics although he never played for them.

The, soon to be, 23 years old athelete, averaged 7.1 points, and 1.7 assists in 41 games last season for the Clipers, and also scored 25 points against the Houston Rockets in a Western Conference semifinal, bringing the Clippers up 2 to 1.

It seems that he’s not the NBA star his father wanted him to be, but Austin still has a lot of room to grow and, who knows, he might just prove his father wrong.
