It is during the meeting of the NBA players association this July 20th in Vegas, that they want to ratify the decision to create a pension fund for the health insurance of former players in financial difficulties.

Actually the 30 representatives of the NBA franchise should quickly accept this initiative carried by Michele Robert, National Basketball Players Association president (NBPA). The idea is to propose to the former 1,500 players of the NBA three options of health insurance according to their needs.

The numerous stories of penniless players which badly managed their finances such as Antoine Walker, and which cannot afford health insurance, lasted enough, according to the Players.

With Michele Robert and Roger Mason Jr., the NBPA should activate a budget of 10 to 15 million dollars stemming from TV rights to help its “former” players.
