Courted by the New York Knicks or the Los Angeles Lakers, Corey Brewer finally preferred to stay with the Houston Rockets by signing a new contract for $24 million over 3 years. The shooting guard refused an even better financial offer with the Sacramento kings to continue in Texas.
He joined the Rockets during the season, Corey Brewer had brought his energy and constant aggression to Kevin McHale’s team, showing to be particularly useful in the playoffs.
Houston GM Daryl Morey, had recently explained that the primary purpose of the franchise was to keep its own free agents, rather than trying to attract other stars. Corey Brewer is the first stage of this plan, Patrick Beverley is probably the next priority.
