After refusing to extend is contract with the Detroit Pistons, Greg Monroe had clearly set the tone for his future. Totally free in a few days at the opening of Free Agency on July 1, Monroe should be courted by many franchises.

For now, reports have announced that he would meet 5 teams including the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. In an interview with the New Orleans Advocate, Greg Monroe has confirmed that he is leaving the Detroit Pistons.

“Stan Van Gundy has always aligned small teams including Orlando in the recent years. Andre Drummond is like Dwight Howard and Stan wants good players around him. The team has different plans and I will not be where I’m not wanted”, said Greg Monroe.

In fact, it is Greg Monroe who does not wish to stay in Motor City since he had the opportunity to extend his contract last year. Now he wants to join a team that can fight for the title.

“I’m looking for a team capable of winning now. I hope it will be a team where I am the missing piece.”

Will Greg Monroe be able to make a financial effort to reach a real contender for the title? Because for now, the franchises that are interested in him are currently undergoing some major changes. Throughout the year, rumors have announced that the San Antonio Spurs have a true interest in the Power center/power forward player, perhaps the ideal project for Monroe?
