TORONTO – The Texas Rangers have hit three homers solo en route to a 4-0 win against the Blue Jays on Saturday. Mitch Moreland slammed his 10th homer of the season for the Rangers, who were ending a six setbacks. Robinson Chirinos and Rougned Odor also homered.
All home runs occurred after a ball sacrifice of Odor at second. Elvis Andrus was first filed perfect cushioning, along the line of the first goal. It reached third base on a single by Joey Gallo, then scored when he came Odor raised the ball to left field.
Yovani Gallardo (7-6) excelled in eight innings, allowing only three singles and two walks. He arranged four strikeouts.
Shawn Tolleson was in charge of the last two outs, getting a double play ball on his third shot of the day.
The Jays got their first hit with two outs in the fourth inning, when Edwin Encarnacion hit a single to left field.
Matt Boyd (0-1) allowed four runs and nine hits in six innings in his first start in the majors. However, he withdrew seven strikeouts, without granting a ball.
The series will conclude Sunday afternoon. Chi Chi Rodriguez and Drew Hutchinson will be the starting pitchers.
Hutchison has not lost since May 20 showing a record 4-0 in six starts.
