(Sunrise, FL) A few hours after claiming the defender Juulsen Noah in the first round of the draft, the Canadiens had to wait until the 87th before they can select another prospect since it held no second round pick. The Habs used it to get hold of the Swedish center Lukas Vejdemo a great skater 6’2 and 194 pounds who played with Djurgarden U20 training in Sweden.

Vejdemo was second scorer of his team with 23 goals and 48 points in 34 games, except that it should be noted that he is only 19 years old. It was therefore in his second year of eligibility for the draft.

He was ranked 36th European skaters by Central Scouting for the NHL. The beginning of the second round was led by Quebecers. Four of them were selected from the top ten. This is the defender Jérémy Roy (San Jose), Gabriel Gagné attackers (Ottawa) and AJ Greer (Colorado) and defender Nicolas Meloch.

In fact, the top three choices made Saturday by the Avalanche were Quebecers starting with Jean-Christophe Beaudin. The Senators, who left Friday recruted defender Thomas Chabot Saint John’s Sea Dogs, followed Saturday recruting,  Gagné and  Filip Chlapik two QMJHL players.
